II. System Configuration
At the login screen press CTRL ALT DEL to login. Login with the username Administrator and your password.

Depending on your installation version you may receive the following prompt for Security Updates. Close this window.

A First time login welcome screen comes up. Check the box to never show again and close this.

Verify Device Drivers
Depending on your hardware you may need to install device drivers for things like network cards, video cards, usb controllers, etc. To check, click on Start and right click on My Computer. Click on Properties. Click on the Hardware Tab and press the button for Device Manager.

Check for any devices that are yellow. These devices are missing drivers. You will need to install drivers from the CDs that came with your system or download drivers from the Internet. This document does not go into detail as each system will be different.

Run Windows Update
Before we do anything at this point we need to get the latest patches. The easiest way to do this is by visiting windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Depending on what version of the Win2K3 you installed, you may receive a number of security alerts when attempting to access the Internet.


Click on the bar at the top to install ActiveX control and begin Windows Update


Click Install Now to begin installing updates

Press Express Install

Accept Agreement

Proceed with recommended installs. This will vary depending on how many updates are required.

When finished reboot
